Tiffin Breeze Prototype

Introduction

Tiffin Motorhomes is set to unveil a new class A motorhome at the 2009 RVIA show in Louisville. This unique model is designed to meet the needs of RVers who want a smaller class A motorhome but don't want to go to the class C motorhome chassis. This new motorhome is supposedly going to be called the Breeze. Because this is all preliminary information I have to warn you that there may be some errors in it. All of this information has been received by multiple sources and ongoing changes have been made as the new design was developed so treat this information as "tentative" until the production units actually hit the pavement and show up at Tiffin dealerships. Also, any information given here is all I have. I have no pricing information or other details. I'm sure that will be released at the Louisville show in a few weeks. In the meantime this information should be good enough to give you an idea of whether or not this motorhome is something that may fit into your future plans.

This unit was photographed, with permission, by one of the TiffinRVNetwork members at the Tiffin Motorhomes paint shop. It is the prototype that will be shown at the RVIA Show. It is not fully finished but these photos will serve to give you an excellent idea of just what the new coach will look like. Our thanks to Paul Becker for supplying these photos.

This coach was designed to be small on the outside, but large on the inside. Initial plans were to release a 28-29' model with future versions slightly longer. It should be the only class A coach in this shorter length that features a couch, a full dinette, and a rear bedroom. The overall height is lowered to reduce wind drag but there's plenty of headroom because the floor is also lowered. Tiffin accomplished this by custom designing their own chassis to specifically fit this motorhome. Whether or not the chassis will be branded with the Powerglide name or not is unknown. The chassis is a rear engine diesel pusher. It will have full air brakes and air-ride suspension. A Navistar diesel engine will power this unit. This power train will enable the coach to move smartly down the road, unlike the under-powered Sprinter based chassis used by competitors. The lowered floor height will result in wheel wells extending through the floor, in similar fashion to a school bus. The end result is that this unit will achieve better fuel economy. Estimates of 14-15 MPG are given at this point. This unit features a 6,000 watt Onan Quiet Diesel generator set, which is mounted transversely in the front cap.

If you would like to print this review it probably won't work that well. The pictures and text on the far right will probably get clipped. If you want to print this review, Click Here for a Print Ready Version.
